The Seagrave Wolds Challenge (click for more information/pics)
This event has been organised to encourage exploration of the rolling countryside around Seagrave and raise a little towards the village hall refurbishment. The inspiration comes from similar walking-running-cycling events I have taken part in. i.e.- Belvoir challenge, Viking challenge, Waltham winder
This is the fifth year of the event and the route is again one distance of 15.7 miles. The route has been designed to take in all the highest ground possible along the way to maximise the challenge and give the best views, weather permitting (Total ascent 860ft).
There will be two checkpoints: Checkpoint 1- at Wymeswold Primary school - 6miles Checkpoint 2- at Prestwold Hall estate - 10 miles Refreshments will be available at both, and at the Village Memorial Hall, Seagrave.
We will be using footpaths, bridleways & minor roads, but have been allowed to make our own route through Prestwold Estate Land, which is not normally a right of way; this is thanks to Mr Edward Packe-Drury-Lowe. Along the route you will enjoy views of Stanford Hall, Prestwold Hall, Charnwood Forest and the rolling Wolds countryside and Villages.

Like many other villages Seagrave’s Village Hall (Memorial Hall) was built long before current regulations were invented & imposed, so many fund raising events have been organised over many years to keep it up to the standard dictated by the ever-increasing legal/regulatory requirements that are for the good of all users and visitors but that cost so much. The support that this event will generate for the Hall should be very good for the local community and all who hold functions/events there (it is very well supported and in constant use), so we all thank you in advance for your interest and your entry to this, the fifth, Annual Challenge. |
